What to Expect

What will happen during your Podiatry Appointment?

Initial/ New patient Appointment - 45 minute appointment

The Podiatrist will take a full medical history from you. It is very important that you tell us about any medical conditions you have and any medication that you are taking as this may affect your treatment. A simple neurological and vascular assessment will then be undertaken by the Podiatrist. This looks at the pulses, nerve sensation and temperature of the feet. A Doppler machine will then listen to the pulses in the feet to check for any arterial problems. You will then be asked about any problems that you are having with your feet and if you have any concerns.

The Podiatrist will then carry out the treatment that is required for you such as hard skin removal, corn removal etc. You will always be consulted throughout your treatment and each part of the treatment will be fully explained to you.

An Annual Diabetic Risk Assessment can be undertaken if required and necessary at no extra charge.

Footwear and footcare advice will be given.

The Podiatrist may recommend that you attend the clinic on a regular basis to maintain your ideal foot health.

Follow on/Routine Appointment – 30 minute appointment

At this appointment, the patient records will be checked – noting any change in medication. The patient will then be asked if there is anything in particular causing problems and if all was fine at the previous appointment.
